Gearing up for the SPC Community Connections Concert on Thursday, September 28 at the Palladium Theater, SPC musicians participated in a Care Package Packing Party organized by Operation Military Matters. This non-profit, founded by SPC Dual Enrollment student Graci Tubbs, has sent over 9,000 care packages containing comforts from home and handwritten messages to active military serving abroad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPC Flute Major Emilee Taylor said, “It felt great collaborating and contributing to a cause, showing our appreciation to those serving. We assembled 135 packages in one hour! Operation Military Matters organizers were inviting and made the experience fun and enjoyable.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPC Veterans Services<\/a>, Operation Military Matters<\/a>, and Operation Warrior Hope<\/a> will be featured on the September 28, Community Connections Concert of patriotic music performances by SPC Community Concert Band and Community Wind Symphony. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us Thursday, September 28, at the historic Palladium Theater in downtown St. Pete for an evening of patriotic music with the SPC Community Wind Symphony and the SPC Community Concert Band. This Community Connections Concert honors the work of SPC Veteran Services <\/a>and two local charities Operation Military Matters<\/a> and Operation Warrior Hope<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operation Military Matters<\/strong> was started in 2015 by then 9-year-old fourth grader Graci Tubbs. After hearing and seeing veterans speak at a Veterans Day assembly, Graci felt the need to support our military and let the men and women know people back home cared about them. The school project grew into a 501 (c) (3) non-profit and has sent over 9,000 care packages to our military service members overseas. Graci is currently a senior at Seminole High School, and she is an SPC student through dual enrollment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operation Warrior Hope<\/strong> is a newly formed project of the American Legion Post 7. Its focus is on veteran wellness and veteran suicide prevention within the Tampa Bay Military Community. Combined with 27 community partners, Operation Warrior Hope bridges the gap between the challenges our veterans face and the resources they require. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concert repertoire includes an array of patriot pieces to lift spirits, honor our veterans, and build awareness of these great causes.  All active military and veterans will be recognized throughout the program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refreshments are available for purchase in the Palladium Lobby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking is available at two adjacent lots to the Palladium Theater.  There is also a parking garage available less than one block from the Palladium for $1 per hour at the Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement (355 4th<\/sup> St. Street, St. Petersburg, FL 33701).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Music at SPC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Music AA Transfer <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPC\u2019s Music and Music Education AA Transfer degrees (60 credits) are two-year programs that prepare students for transfer to University music programs in Performance, Music Education (Band, Chorus, Orchestra, General Music), and Music Therapy. Students earn Music State Common Perquisite credits in music lessons, music ensembles, music\/aural theory, and student recital. Students also earn all 36 general education liberal arts credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music Industry Recording Arts (MIRA) AS Degree <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPC\u2019s Music Industry Recording Arts (MIRA) AS degree (64 credits) is a two-year workforce program with a technology focus. It prepares students to work as producers, audio engineers, and composers\/songwriters in the music industry. The core curriculum includes courses in digital audio workstations, live sound engineering, studio recording techniques, critical listening, legal issues in music, practical music business, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Audio Engineering and Production (AUDIOPE) Certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPC\u2019s Audio Engineering and Production (AUDIOPE) Certificate (24 credits) is a financial aid-eligible certificate that includes instruction in digital audio workstations, studio recording techniques, acoustics, live sound, and professional audio production. The stand-alone certificate prepares for workforce internships and employment. The 24 credits also count towards the MIRA-AS degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
