American pianist and organist, Father Sean Duggan, OSB, is slated to perform at the St. Petersburg College<\/a> Music Center on the St. Petersburg\/Gibbs Campus, 6605 Fifth Ave. North, St Petersberg, on January 24, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duggan will perform Bach’s Concerto in the Italian Style (\u201cItalian Concerto\u201d) BWV 971, and Beethoven’s Thirty-three Variations on a Waltz by Diabelli, Op. 120. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duggan was born in Jersey City, New Jersy, and he obtained his music degrees from Loyola University and Carnegie Mellon University. He earned a master\u2019s degree in theology from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duggan won first prize in the Johann Sebastian Bach International Competition in 1983 and 1991. He has performed with many orchestras, including the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Leipzig Baroque Soloists, The Prague Chamber Orchestra, The American Chamber Orchestra and the Pennsylvania Sinfonia. In 2000, Duggan performed the complete cycle of J.S. Bach\u2019s keyboard works eight times in a series of fifteen recitals entitled Bach On the Threshold of Hope in various American and European cities. Duggan is Professor of Piano at SUNY Fredonia and on the faculty of the Golandsky Institute in Princeton, New Jersey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
