{"id":11174,"date":"2018-08-10T23:20:21","date_gmt":"2018-08-11T03:20:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/arts-humanities-design-educational-information\/?p=11174"},"modified":"2024-01-30T13:26:17","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T18:26:17","slug":"the-agency-band","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/arts-humanities-design-educational-information\/the-agency-band\/","title":{"rendered":"Get a lesson from The Agency band members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This isn&#8217;t just for Swifties but you do have to be an SPC Titan.<\/p>\n<p>St. Petersburg College students and alumni will have a chance to learn from some of the best &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/davidcookmusic.com\/About\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave Cook<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/theswiftagency.com\/profiles\/amos-heller\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amos Heller<\/a> &#8211; members of Taylor Swift&#8217;s band, The Agency.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/arts-humanities-design-educational-information\/the-agency-band\/qa-david-cook-amos-heller\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11176\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-11176\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/arts-humanities-design-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/QA-David-Cook-Amos-Heller-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"Flier\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/arts-humanities-design-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/QA-David-Cook-Amos-Heller-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/arts-humanities-design-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/08\/QA-David-Cook-Amos-Heller.jpg 647w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/a>Among their many musical projects, Cook is Swift\u2019s music director\/keyboardist and Heller is her band&#8217;s &#8220;bass player extraordinaire.&#8221; The two are headed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mypalladium.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Palladium Theater at SPC<\/a> on Aug. 13 to share their musical wisdom.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/blogs\/soundcheck\/2018\/08\/10\/taylor-swifts-tampa-concert-parking-weather-surprise-guests-and-everything-else-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Swift is performing in Tampa on Aug. 14<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This first-come, first-serve FREE event for SPC students and alumni will take place at the Palladium\u2019s main stage. The event is hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/future-students\/degrees-training\/arts-humanities-and-design\/music-industry-recording-arts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Music Industry Recording Arts program<\/a> at the college.\u00a0The program begins at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Guests can take part in a Q&amp;A with The Agency band members. Topics will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>performance skills that have allowed them to thrive in the industry<\/li>\n<li>personal branding as musicians<\/li>\n<li>their gear choices for recording and live performance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a return performance at SPC for the pair from The Agency band. <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/arts-humanities-design-educational-information\/taylor-swifts-music-director-bassist-spc-palladium\/?utm_source=Social\">The two took part in\u00a0 a similar event in 2015 at the Palladium.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>The Agency band bios<\/h4>\n<p>Before joining Swift\u2019s team in 2011, Cook was heavily involved in the New York City jazz scene.\u00a0 Since then, he has worked three tours as Taylor\u2019s musical director and pianist.<\/p>\n<p>At 13, Heller was handed his first bass. He hasn&#8217;t stopped playing since.\u00a0 He built his impressive resume in Nashville where he began touring with Swift as her leading bassist.<\/p>\n<h4>MIRA program<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/mira\/?utm_term=Social\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SPC\u2019s MIRA program<\/a>\u00a0helps students develop \u201creal world\u201d skills artists need to thrive in a diverse and competitive music industry. It offers experience to student musicians, composers, producers, DJs, life-sound reinforcement enthusiasts, broadcast audio engineers, and post-production technologists.
