If not, you need to check them out!<\/p>\n<p>I am a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/degrees-training\/arts-humanities-and-design\/digital-arts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Digital Arts<\/a> student and have used the new computers, and they are so cool!<\/p>\n<p>I am a hands-on person and using the mouse to trace and draw is a bit challenging for me because there is just something different about the motion your hand makes when using a pen to draw.<\/p>\n<p>These new computers are not only touch screen but also come with a stylus.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kVFawJNu3eI?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I spoke to Dr. Barbara Hubbard, chair of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/degrees-training\/arts-humanities-and-design\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Digital Arts and Humanities<\/a> at the Seminole Campus,\u00a0 and asked her a few questions about them:<\/p>\n<h6>How was SPC able to obtain these Surface Studio computers?<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThey were part of our leasing refresh for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/degrees-training\/arts-humanities-and-design\/digital-arts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Digital Arts program<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>What are some things about the computers that most people might not be aware of?<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThey are adjustable to 20 degrees and help facilitate a natural way to draw and animate\u2026 since they replicate, in tablet form, a piece of paper with an electronic pen stylus.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>How will these new computers benefit the students?<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cOur drawing and animation students will have the benefits of working electronically while remaining in a natural drawing rhythm&#8230; eye-hand coordination will be the same as using traditional paper and pencil while students have a full complement of tools and digital programs in the Adobe Suite as well as others.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>Are there any special features that set these computers apart from simply using the Macs?<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cMacs do not have the features the full complement of programs in the iPad Pro\u2026 only \u2018Lite versions\u2019\u2026 students will be hard pressed to find that availability with iPad pros.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>What is your favorite thing about these new computers?<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cI think they are totally fabulous, and we will be able to implement them into our program with much anticipated success.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you stop by and check them out, especially if you are a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/degrees-training\/arts-humanities-and-design\/digital-arts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Digital Arts<\/a> student!<\/p>\n<p><em>About the author :<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>SPC student (and blogger) Faith Olmstead works for the college&#8217;s Marketing &amp; Strategic Communications department and is a Digital Arts student, with a focus on graphic design.
